New NSF grant for City Tech Prof. Huseyin Yuce

13 12 2010

Prof. Huseyin Yuce from the Department of Mathematics was recently awarded a National Science Foundation, Course Curriculum and Laboratory Improvement grant (CCLI) for a project focusing on the Brooklyn waterfront.  “Water and Work: The Brooklyn Waterfront 2050” will create a new science-based interdisciplinary course in the field of environmental science.  The course will combine core principals of physics, architecture, mathematics, biology, chemistry and engineering and provide students with the necessary tools to understand complex environmental issues on a local and global scale. Students will have the opportunity to evaluate the current state of the Brooklyn waterfront and project how it will change by 2050 given current global warming trends.
